Talisman‑R is a two‑way bass‑reflex speaker built around Ruark’s preferred natural‑material drivers: a 165mm long‑throw fibre NS+ woofer and a 27mm silk‑dome tweeter. These are blended through a premium crossover using high‑grade components to ensure low distortion and a smooth, natural frequency response.
Ruark placed major emphasis on the enclosure design, as controlling internal energy is essential for clean sound. The front baffle is decoupled using elastomer bushes and damping strips to reduce vibration transfer, while internal bracing and compound wadding minimise standing waves and cabinet colouration. The result is an enclosure engineered for purity and accuracy.
The speaker’s tall, tapered form is inherently stable, further reinforced by a heavy 10mm steel plinth with adjustable feet and spikes. This adds mass, improves grounding, and gives the speaker a distinctive floating look.
