Technics SP-10R Reference Class Direct Drive Turntable
The Technics SP-10R represents the pinnacle of turntable engineering, featuring an advanced coreless direct drive motor and heavyweight 7.9kg platter for exceptional rotational stability. Building upon the legendary SP-10 lineage, this reference-class turntable delivers industry-leading performance with 0.015% wow and flutter (at measurement limits) and world-class signal-to-noise ratio.
Advanced Motor Technology
At its heart lies an enhanced double coil twin rotor-type coreless direct drive motor with 12-pole, 18-coil configuration, providing 0.39 N·m starting torque to drive the heavyweight platter system. The coils are offset 60 degrees to improve substrate rigidity and suppress fine vibrations whilst reducing self-inductance. Strategic placement of stainless steel weights at the chassis bottom maintains rigidity and low centre of gravity for superior vibration control.
Premium Construction & Separate Control Unit
The turntable platter features a sophisticated 3-layer construction combining 10mm brass weights with tungsten outer periphery laminated onto aluminium die-cast, achieving approximately 1 ton·cm inertial mass. The separate control unit employs a switching power supply with proprietary unwanted noise reduction circuitry, isolating the main unit from electrical interference. The OLED display enables precise rotation adjustment down to two decimal places (±16%) with support for 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM playback.
SP-10MK2 and SP-10MK3 Backward Compatibility
In order to enable users to continue using the turntable base and tonearm of systems including the SP-10MK2 and SP-10MK3, the shape and screw positions of the SP-10R base plate are designed to allow mounting onto the SP-10MK2 and SP-10MK3 for complete backward compatibility. The control unit is also the same shape and size as the SP-10MK2 power unit for trouble-free replacement, making upgrades seamless for existing system owners.
