Sonus Faber Serafino G2 Floorstanding Loudspeaker Pair – Homage Collection
Made in Italy. Each Homage speaker is built by dedicated Sonus Faber artisans in their factory in Vicenza, Italy.
The Serafino G2 speaker in the renewed Homage “collection” is a refined and elegant 3.5-way, 4-speaker bass-reflex column that brings the youngest model in the Sonus Faber reference range up to date, now in its second generation.
As far as its electro-acoustic design is concerned, the Serafino G2 combines elements from its predecessor with new ones, among the former the redesigned lute-shaped cabinet and the sophisticated Stealth Ultraflex port, whose external part on the rear panel of the cabinet is made of extruded aluminium to optimally control the flow and speed of the air circulating through the duct, thus reducing any possible turbulence and therefore the associated distortion.
Among the most significant additions are the midrange and bass speakers, which are equipped with more powerful magnet motors and improved peripheral suspension, in order to push the possibilities of the natural fibre composite used in the respective cones to the limit. In addition, a particularly ingenious solution for the loading of the mid-range loudspeaker is the Intono scheme, which combines the advantages of acoustic suspension and bass-reflex while eliminating the disadvantages of the bass-reflex system.
The Serafino G2 is completed by a complex hybrid crossover filter executed with audiophile-grade components of the highest quality, integrating Sonus Faber’s unique Paracross Topology and Interactive Fusion Filtering schemes, and the Phase Coherent concept, embodied in a front-panel speaker layout that linearises the phase response.
Dramatic improvements have been made to bracing and porting system which allow for more efficiency and greater output while maintaining strategic resonance control. The midrange and tweeter chambers are now optimised using a novel technology called Intono.
